Basketball Recap: Falls Lake Firebirds vs. Chatham Central Bears
Falls Lake lost against Chatham Central back in November of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Falls Lake Firebirds were dealt a 60-32 loss at the hands of the Chatham Central Bears. While losing is never fun, the Firebirds can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 573rd, while the Bears are ranked 173rd).
When it comes to explaining why Falls Lake lost, don't look at Jonathan Taylor- Hamilton. Despite the final result, he posted nine points and eight rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Camden Cooke, who put up seven points and nine boards.
It was another big night for Brennen Oldham, who almost dropped a double-double on 25 points and nine rebounds for Chatham Central. Oldham has been hot, having posted 17 or more points the last six times he's played. Luke Gaines was another key player, going 6 of 14 en route to 15 points along with seven boards and five assists.
Falls Lake dropped their record down to 5-15 with the defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Chatham Central, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 18-2.
Coming up, Falls Lake will challenge East Wake Academy at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Chatham Central, they will square off against Northwood at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
