Recap: Cordova Blue Devils vs. Oakman Wildcats
The Cordova Blue Devils's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their third straight loss. They took a hard 56-40 fall against Oakman. While losing is never fun, Cordova can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 322nd, while Oakman is ranked 109th).
It was another big night for Rick Johnson, who scored 28 points along with six rebounds for Oakman. Another player making a difference was Bridger Upton, who scored eight points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Cordova has been struggling recently, as they've lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-14 record this season. As for Oakman, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games, which provided a nice bump to their 10-2 record this season.
Cordova will play host again and welcome Sumiton Christian, where tip off is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Oakman on the road again on Monday and play against Fayette County at 7:30 p.m. on January 22nd. Fayette County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Oakman likes a good challenge.
