Baseball Recap: Old Forge Gets the Win

Old Forge was handed a ten-run defeat in their previous outing, but that didn't affect their clutch gene on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out the Lackawanna Trail Lions 4-3. The Blue Devils haven't had any issues with the Lions recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.

Jake Bartnikowski made a big impact no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over six innings pitched. He also tossed no walks, which is notable because Old Forge is undefeated when he allows at most one walk, but 2-7 otherwise. Bartnikowski was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double. That double marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, Will Wozniak was excellent, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one run and one double. Those three hits gave him a new career-high. Enzo Tallo also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen bases of the season.

Old Forge's victory bumped their record up to 5-7. As for Lackawanna Trail, their loss dropped their record down to 1-3.

Looking ahead, Old Forge will welcome Western Wayne at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Devils are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Lackawanna Trail, they are taking a road trip to face off against Lakeland at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
