Baseball Recap: Jacksonville Takes a Loss

Jacksonville came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs, falling 9-2. The Cardinals were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Monarchs apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2024.

Ryan Yates made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Kaiden Cox also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Jacksonville has traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-5 record this season. Northside - Jacksonville moved to 2-5 with that win, which also ended their four-game losing streak.

Jacksonville didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 7-2 defeat against South Central on the 25th. As for Northside - Jacksonville, they have also already played their next game, a 5-3 loss against Heide Trask on the 25th.
