Basketball Game Preview: Mead Panthers vs. Chiawana Riverhawks

The Mead Panthers will take on the Chiawana Riverhawks at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in Mead's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points every time they've taken the court this season.

Mead is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They came out on top against Ferris by a score of 71-58. Given the Panthers' advantage in MaxPreps' Washington basketball rankings (they are ranked 25th, while the Saxons are ranked 191st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Chiawana, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. They claimed a resounding 75-47 victory over Lewis & Clark. The Riverhawks have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten contests by 20 points or more this season.

Mead's win was their tenth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 18-5. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 74.5 points over those games. As for Chiawana, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season.

Mead strolled past Chiawana in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 by a score of 63-49. Will Mead repeat their success, or does Chiawana have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
