Baseball Game Preview: Seymour Thunder vs. De Pere Redbirds

The Seymour Thunder will face off against the De Pere Redbirds at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Seymour 2.8, De Pere 2.7) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Seymour took a six-run loss the last time they faced off against Bay Port, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Thunder came out on top in a nail-biter against the Pirates on Tuesday, sneaking past 3-2. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Thunder have posted since April 29th.

Seymour's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Xavier Salzman, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with one stolen base.

Meanwhile, De Pere fell victim to Menasha and their airtight pitching crew on Tuesday. They fell just short of the Bluejays by a score of 1-0. The Redbirds' defeat signaled the end of their five-game winning streak.

Seymour pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their 12th straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.9 runs over those games. As for De Pere, their loss dropped their record down to 19-4.
