Baseball Recap: Zion Christian Academy Takes Down Clarksville Christian in a Playoff Battle

It's playoff time, and Zion Christian Academy had no trouble coming through when it counted. Their pitchers stepped up to hand the Clarksville Christian Centurions a 5-0 shutout on Monday. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 12-2 back in March.

Brennan Targgart was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over 6.1 innings pitched. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one run. He is becoming a predictor of Zion Christian Academy's success: when he posts at least three RBI the team is undefeated (and 8-12 when he doesn't).

Zion Christian Academy pushed their record up to 11-12 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.3 runs over those games. As for Clarksville Christian, they now have a losing record of 2-3.

As of now, neither Zion Christian Academy nor the Centurions have any future games scheduled.
