Baseball Recap: Martin County Comes Up Short

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Wednesday as neither Martin County nor Betsy Layne made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Cardinals lost 9-1 to the Bobcats. The Cardinals were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Bobcats earlier this season, when they won 19-10.

Damian Cheek made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Martin County has also traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matches. That's put a noticeable dent in their 12-14 record this season. As for Betsy Layne, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-17 record this season.

Martin County will challenge Perry County Central at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Betsy Layne, they will face off against Pike County Central at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
