Basketball Recap: Hillgrove Takes a Loss

Hillgrove lost against McEachern back in January, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Hillgrove Hawks lost 78-58 to the McEachern Indians. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Indians are ranked third).

Despite the loss, Hillgrove saw an underclassman step up: freshman Bryson Jatta went 8-for-16 on his way to 19 points. The match was Jatta's third in a row with at least 18 points. Greg Dean was another key player, putting up seven points.

Hillgrove's defeat dropped their record down to 19-9. As for McEachern, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 22-4 record this season.

Hillgrove wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 69-64 win against Harrison on the 14th. As for McEachern, they have also already played their next matchup, a 68-60 victory against Pebblebrook on the 14th.
