Basketball Recap: Dynamic Duo of Barrett Hestand and Kegan Bates Lead Labette County to Victory

There's no place like home for Labette County, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Tuesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Fort Scott Tigers on Thursday, sneaking past 47-44. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Grizzlies have posted against the Tigers since January 26, 2021.

Labette County was led to victory by Kegan Bates and Barrett Hestand. Bates went 8-for-12 on his way to 21 points and three steals, while Hestand went 6-for-13 to rack up 16 points. Thanks to that strong game, Bates now owns an excellent 46.6% field goal percentage. The team also got some help courtesy of Colten Weil, who posted four points and six rebounds.

Labette County's victory bumped their record up to 4-10. As for Fort Scott, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-11.
