University is 9-1 against Valley since November of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Bulldogs will face off against the Vikings at 6:30 p.m. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.

On Tuesday, University didn't have quite enough to beat Resurrection Christian and fell 3-2.

University took Resurrection Christian into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking six-point loss. The match finished with set scores of 25-15, 22-25, 23-25, 25-21, 15-9.

Meanwhile, Valley came up short against Fort Morgan on Thursday and fell 3-1.

The defeat didn't mean the game wasn't competitive: Fort Morgan scored at least 19 points in every set. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-19, 25-20, 22-25, 25-21.

University will have to contain Laurissa Richards as she made an impact in Valley's last game. She had 26 digs and seven assists. Richards has been hot, having posted 11 or more digs the last eight times she's played.

University's loss ended a four-match streak of away wins and brought them to 11-3. As for Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-8.

University was able to grind out a solid win over Valley in their previous meeting back in October of 2024, winning 3-1. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bulldogs since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
