Baseball Recap: Clayton Gets the Win

After losing to South Garner the last time they met, Clayton decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. The Clayton Comets walked away with a 7-2 win over the South Garner Titans on Wednesday.

Lucas Hatch looked comfortable as he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Clayton is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 2-4 otherwise.

At the plate, Owen Fitzsimmons was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Jennings Dunlap was another key player, scoring a run and stealing Four bases. while going 1-for-2.

Clayton's victory was their first in the conference, bumping their conference record up to 1-2 and their overall record up to 4-5. As for South Garner, their loss was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-7.

Clayton will have a chance to go back-to-back against South Garner: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
