Basketball Game Preview: Dunn Earwigs vs. Santa Clara Saints

The Dunn Earwigs will take on the Santa Clara Saints on Friday.

Dunn is probably headed into the contest with a chip on their shoulder considering St. Bonaventure just ended the team's three-game winning streak on Wednesday. They had to suffer through a 86-39 loss at the hands of the Seraphs. The game marked the Earwigs' lowest-scoring matchup so far this season.

Meanwhile, Santa Clara came into Monday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They enjoyed a cozy 66-52 win over Channel Islands on Monday. The victory was all the more spectacular given the Saints' disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 1092nd, while the Raiders are ranked 455th).

Santa Clara's win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-19. As for Dunn, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-8.

Everything came up roses for Dunn against Santa Clara in their previous matchup back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 71-40 victory. Does Dunn have another victory up their sleeve, or will Santa Clara turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
