Softball Game Preview: First Baptist Academy Eagles vs. West Rebels

The First Baptist Academy Eagles will head out on the road to square off against the West Rebels at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. First Baptist Academy has given up an average of 11.6 runs per game this season, but Friday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

First Baptist Academy came up short against Knoxville Catholic on Thursday, falling 11-4. The defeat continues a trend for the Eagles in their meetings with the Fighting Irish: they've now lost five in a row.

Meanwhile, there's no place like home for West, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Monday. They won by a run and slipped past Oak Ridge 8-7. The win continues a trend for the Rebels in their matchups with the Wildcats: they've now won seven in a row.

Brooke Weaver made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing seven innings while giving up just two earned (and five unearned) runs off six hits. Weaver was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Emily Ciancone, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run. Those two RBI gave her a new career-high. Ella Jenkins was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI and one run.

West's record now sits at 8-9. As for First Baptist Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-6.
