On TuesdayRiverdale kept up with Mendota until halftime, but afterwards: not so much. Everything went the Mendota Aztecs' way against the Riverdale Cowboys as the Mendota Aztecs made off with a 4-1 victory. The Aztecs might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by three goals or more this season.

They hit Riverdale with a three-pronged attack, as the team got scores from Wilberto Amador (2), Neri Arteaga, and Erlin Gomez.

Mendota pushed their record up to 8-2-2 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 12 goals over those three contests. As for Riverdale, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 8-3.

Mendota and Sunnyside will compete for holiday cheer at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Sunnyside's defense has only allowed 0.4 goals per game this season, so Mendota's offense will have their work cut out for them. Riverdale has already played their next game, a 2-0 victory against Hanford West on the 21st.
