Basketball Recap: Ismael Perez and Christian Rodriguez Secure Win for Southland Christian

Southland Christian put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 61-53 win over Varsity Opponent. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 86-59 on Monday.

Southland Christian was led to victory by Christian Rodriguez and Ismael Perez. Rodriguez went 8-for-16 on his way to 24 points and six steals, while Perez dropped a double-double with 15 points and 12 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Perez a new career-high in blocks (two). Another player making a difference was Yadiel Gonzalez, who posted five points.

Southland Christian smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive rebounds every time they've taken the court this season.

Southland Christian's victory bumped their record up to 3-0.

Looking ahead, Southland Christian will be playing at home against Life Christian Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Varsity Opponent, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-36 defeat against Trinity Christian Homeschool on the 13th.
