Preview: Banff Bears vs. Angleton Christian Warriors
The Banff Bears will be playing at home against the Angleton Christian Warriors at 5:30 p.m. on Friday. Banff has now lost 11 straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since November 16.
Banff suffered their biggest defeat since December 11, 2023 on Thursday. They were outmatched by Humble Christian at home and fell 58-31. Banff was down 44-24 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Anthony Perla, who scored ten points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Perla is absolutely dominating the steal category: he's posted at least two every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Viet Vo, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds.
Meanwhile, after a string of three wins, Angleton Christian's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 48-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Texas Christian.
Banff dropped their record down to 4-13 with that loss, which was their fifth straight at home. As for Angleton Christian, their loss ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 4-6.
Banff might still be hurting after the 58-33 loss they got from Angleton Christian in their previous matchup on January 9th. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Banff was down 44-16.
