Softball Recap: Napoleon Wins Going Away Against Southview

There's no place like home for Napoleon, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They put the hurt on the Southview Cougars with a sharp 16-1 win on Monday. That 15 run margin sets a new team best for the Wildcats this season.

Arianna Kiessling (Jr) made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 12 batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one double. That double marked the first that she hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addy Thompson Jr), who went 3-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and one double. Another player making a difference was Kendall Horner (Jr), who scored a run while going 4-for-4.

Napoleon always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .667. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

The victory got Napoleon back to even at 4-4-1. As for Southview, their loss was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 2-6.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Napoleon will venture away from home to square off against Liberty Center at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Wildcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Tigers have averaged an impressive 8 runs per game this season. As for Southview, they will take on Whitmer at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
