Basketball Game Preview: Doane Academy vs. Delran Bears

Doane Academy will head out to challenge the Delran Bears at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Doane Academy is headed into the matchup having just suffered their closest defeat since December 20, 2023 on Friday. They fell just short of Pennsauken Tech by a score of 66-64. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game on Thursday (56), Doane Academy still had to take the loss.

Meanwhile, Delran earned a 62-49 win over Florence Township Memorial on Thursday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.

Delran is also on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 58.8 points per game. As for Doane Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 8-4.

Doane Academy strolled past Delran in their previous matchup back in January of 2024 by a score of 63-48. The rematch might be a little tougher for Doane Academy since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
