Baseball Game Preview: Ennis Lions vs. Midlothian Heritage Jaguars

For the second straight game, Ennis will face off against Midlothian Heritage. The Lions will challenge the Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Ennis 3.5, Midlothian Heritage 2.8) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Ennis' usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Tuesday's struggle, when Midlothian Heritage hitters got past them. The Lions came up short against the Jaguars on Tuesday, falling 13-2.

For Midlothian Heritage's part, Alex Miner spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on five hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Brayden Abila, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Bailey Huber, who scored two runs while going 1-for-4.

Midlothian Heritage hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least three batters in three consecutive matchups.

Midlothian Heritage is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-7 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.9 runs on average over those games. As for Ennis, their defeat dropped their record down to 12-10-2.
