The Bishop Guilfoyle Marauders will be playing at home against the Juniata Valley Hornets at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bishop Guilfoyle's defense has only allowed 12.8 points per game this season, so Juniata Valley's offense will have their work cut out for them.
Bishop Guilfoyle's defense heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Homer-Center 42-0. The Marauders haven't had any issues with the Wildcats recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive win against them.
Bishop Guilfoyle found their leader in freshman Keegan Hewitt, who rushed for 114 yards and one touchdown on only 11 carries, and also picked up 33 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Another player making a difference was Justin Wheeler, who threw for 181 yards and two TDs while completing 83.3% of his passes.
Bishop Guilfoyle was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 283 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in September.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Bishop Guilfoyle's defense and their seven sacks. Rocco Cacciotti refused to say out of the backfield, picking up two sacks all by himself. Jake Kissell was another major factor on D, picking up a sack and making 12 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, Juniata Valley earned a 38-25 victory over Claysburg-Kimmel on Friday.
Bishop Guilfoyle better keep an eye on Andrew Clark. He was instrumental in Juniata Valley's win, rushing for 174 yards and four scores. Clark's rushing production has been exceptional for a while as that marked his ninth straight game with at least 116 rushing yards. Konner Harker got in on the action as well, returning a kick for a touchdown.
Juniata Valley didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off four passes before the game was over. Anthony Neri led the group effort, picking up two of those interceptions all by himself. Juniata Valley got some further help from Logan Harpster: he made 11 total tackles (2.0 for loss).
Bishop Guilfoyle's win bumped their record up to 10-2. As for Juniata Valley, their victory bumped their record up to an identical 10-2.
Friday's matchup might be decided on the ground. Bishop Guilfoyle has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 230.8 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Juniata Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 157.1 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's contest turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Everything came up roses for Bishop Guilfoyle against Juniata Valley when the teams last played back in November of 2024, as the team secured a 49-0 win. Do the Marauders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Hornets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
