Baseball Recap: Logan County Beats Kirkwood for Their Third Straight Victory

Logan County proved they can win big on Thursday (they won by ten) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They skirted past the Kirkwood Cobras 4-3. The win was familiar territory for the Cougars, who have now won three matchups in a row.

Ty'Sean Thomeczek was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out six batters over 5.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off three hits. Thomeczek was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one double.

In other pitching news, Landon Gregory looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.

Thomeczek wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Holloway, who went a perfect 1-for-1 with two RBI. Those two RBI gave Holloway a new career-high.

Logan County's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 11-5. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.3 runs on average over those games. As for Kirkwood, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 2-13.

Logan County has already played their next contest, a 17-16 victory against Russell County on the 19th. As for Kirkwood, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next game, a 13-1 defeat against Rossview on the 21st.
