Basketball Recap: Saturday's Loss Ends Forest Park's Winning Streak

After a string of four wins, Forest Park's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They took a 51-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Eastern Ramblers. While losing is never fun, the Foresters can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' basketball rankings in their respective home states (they are ranked 61st in Maryland, while the Ramblers are ranked second in District of Columbia).

Forest Park lost despite a true team effort on offense, the best among them being MCKENZIE FITZGERALD, who posted 16 points along with six boards and six steals. FITZGERALD is crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was JOLIE HAMILTON, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds.

Eastern was led to victory by Lanaia Martin and Madisyn Butts. Martin dropped a double-double on 19 points and 13 boards, while Butts scored 15 points in addition to six steals and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Labrea Carter, who put up eight points along with five boards and three steals.

Forest Park's defeat dropped their record down to 12-4. As for Eastern, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 17-6.

Forest Park didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 67-26 win against Patterson on the 28th. Eastern has also already played their next contest, a 67-7 victory against Bard on the 27th.
