Soccer Game Preview: Piedmont vs. Bishop O'Dowd

The Piedmont Highlanders will square off against the Bishop O'Dowd Dragons at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

On Friday, Piedmont didn't have quite enough to beat Berkeley and fell 2-1. While losing is never fun, the Highlanders can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California soccer rankings (they are ranked 555th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 58th).

Meanwhile, Bishop O'Dowd came tearing into Thursday's matchup with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 2.3 goals) and they left with even more momentum. Their defense stepped up to hand the Trojans a 2-0 shutout.

Dallas Scott and Sean Carney scored both of Bishop O'Dowd's goals, bringing their combined season tally to ten goals.

Bishop O'Dowd pushed their record up to 10-4-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they scored 13 goals over those four games. As for Piedmont, their loss dropped their record down to 5-8-4.
