Jefferson wins going away against West Rusk

Recap: Jefferson Bulldogs vs. West Rusk Raiders

The Jefferson Bulldogs waltzed into their matchup Friday with four straight wins but they left with five. They strolled past West Rusk with points to spare, taking the game 61-44. Given Jefferson's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 454th, while West Rusk is ranked 1214th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Despite the defeat, West Rusk saw an underclassman step up: Kamyah Lacy dropped a double-double on 18 points and 12 rebounds. Those 12 rebounds set a new season-high mark for her. Another player making a difference was Kimora Pryor, who scored ten points along with six rebounds and four steals.

Jefferson is on a roll lately: they've won 14 of their last 17 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-6 record this season. As for West Rusk, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost nine of their last 11 matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-16 record this season.

Jefferson's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Arp at 6:30 p.m. on January 9th. Arp is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for West Rusk, they will head out on the road to face off against Tatum at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. One thing working in Tatum's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last five matchups.
