Recap: Ponce De Leon Pirates vs. Altha Wildcats
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but the Ponce De Leon Pirates had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They strolled past the Wildcats with points to spare, taking the game 71-53. The win made it back-to-back wins for Ponce De Leon.
Eli Contreras continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, almost dropping a double-double on 26 points and nine assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which he has scored at least a third of Ponce De Leon's points. James Durrance was another key contributor, scoring four points along with nine steals.
Ponce De Leon has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests, which provided a massive bump to their 14-10 record this season. As for Altha, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-16 record this season.
Ponce De Leon will be staying on the road on Thursday to face off against Bethlehem at 7:30 p.m. on February 8th. Hopefully Ponce De Leon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 15 on Tuesday. Altha does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
