It was a good run, but Mater Academy Charter unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Monday. They took a 43-39 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Westminster Christian Warriors. If the Lions were looking for revenge after losing 38-30 to them when the teams met, then they'll just have to keep looking.

When it comes to explaining why Mater Academy Charter lost, don't look at Via Hazelton. Despite the final result, she posted 17 points. The dominant performance gave Hazelton a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Halle Jordan, who put up eight points.

It was another big night for Angelina Fernandez, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 14 rebounds for Westminster Christian. That makes it 18 consecutive games in which Fernandez has scored at least a third of Westminster Christian's points. Kelsie Kenney was another key player, putting up ten points and six boards.

Mater Academy Charter's defeat ended a nine-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 16-5. As for Westminster Christian, the victory was the seventh in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-8.

Mater Academy Charter wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 50-37 win against Keys Gate on the 28th. Westminster Christian has also already played their next game, a 71-46 loss against Mater Lakes Academy on the 30th.
