Basketball Recap: Arizona Lutheran Academy Comes Up Short

Arizona Lutheran Academy has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They had to suffer through a 52-25 loss at the hands of the Phoenix Country Day Eagles. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Eagles this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 60-37 back in January.

Olivia Owens continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for Phoenix Country Day, going 8-for-19 on her way to 20 points along with eight rebounds and eight steals. Owens is becoming a predictor of Phoenix Country Day's success: when she posts at least three steals the team is 19-1 (and 3-4 when she doesn't). Another player making a difference was Aila Kaibara, who went 7-for-17 to rack up 15 points and eight boards.

Arizona Lutheran Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 20-5. As for Phoenix Country Day, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 14 of their last 15 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 22-5 record this season.
