Softball Recap: Tillamook Cheesemakers vs. Scappoose Indians
Tillamook extended their losing streak to seven on Friday, dropping their season record down to 4-17 in the process. They came up short against the Scappoose Indians, falling 16-5. Unfortunately, that's the third time they've come up short against the Indians this season, with their most recent defeat being a 6-2 loss on Thursday.
Jaylin Krumweide made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs.
As for Scappoose, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 17-3. They might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 contests by seven runs or more this season.
On Scappoose's side, Ava Freeman and Sophia Bloyd did most of the damage at the plate: Freeman fired off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-3, while Bloyd went 2-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. That's the most RBI Freeman has posted since back in March. Another player making a difference was Kayla Brainerd, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and two runs.
Coming up, Tillamook will head out on the road to square off against Valley Catholic at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Scappoose, they will host Scio at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Loggers' pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so the Indians' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
