Basketball Recap: Guardian Angels Central Catholic Takes a Loss

Guardian Angels Central Catholic lost against Norfolk Catholic back in December of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. The Guardian Angels Central Catholic Bluejays took a 62-47 bruising from the Norfolk Catholic Knights. While losing is never fun, the Bluejays can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nebraska basketball rankings (they are ranked 166th, while the Knights are ranked 41st).

Norfolk Catholic's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Gavin Schutt, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine rebounds. Schutt is on a roll when it comes to boards, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Max Hammond, who went 6 of 14 en route to 18 points and six rebounds.

Guardian Angels Central Catholic's defeat dropped their record down to 5-14. As for Norfolk Catholic, they are on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 15-6 record this season.

Looking ahead, it'll be a Battle of the Birds when the Bluejays take on the Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Guardian Angels Central Catholic is facing O'Neill at the right time seeing as O'Neill is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Norfolk Catholic, they will challenge Ponca at 7:45 p.m. on Friday. Norfolk Catholic is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 62 points per game this season.
