Basketball Recap: Wayne Drops Highest Score of Season Against Lawrence County

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Wayne). They snuck past the Lawrence County Bulldogs with a 92-87 win on Monday. Winning may never get old, but the Pioneers sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.

Wayne's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaac Meddings, who went 9 of 13 to rack up 29 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. The team also got some help courtesy of Ronnie Staley, who dropped a double-double with 21 points and 11 assists.

Wayne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 12 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive matches.

Wayne's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 12-3. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 22.5 points. As for Lawrence County, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-7.

Looking ahead, Wayne will take on Lincoln County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Wayne is facing Lincoln County at the right time seeing as Lincoln County is stuck on a seven-game losing streak. As for Lawrence County, they will challenge Blazer at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.
