Academe of the Oaks scored the most points they've had this season on Tuesday, but it wasn't enough. They were just a bucket shy of victory and fell 35-34 to the Excel Christian Academy Eagles. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Firebirds this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 39-22 back in December of 2024.

It was another big night for Chae Vieira, who posted 21 points for Excel Christian Academy. That makes it 15 consecutive games in which Vieira has scored at least a third of Excel Christian Academy's points.

Academe of the Oaks dropped their record down to 0-7-1 with the loss, which was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Excel Christian Academy, their win ended a six-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-13.

Academe of the Oaks will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Lighthouse Christian at 4:00 p.m. on February 11th. As for Excel Christian Academy, they wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next matchup, a 1-0 victory against Cross Keys on the 29th.
