Basketball Recap: Pueblo East Falls Despite Big Games from Mj Delgado and Enzo Pecoraro

After flying high against Pueblo Centennial last Tuesday, Pueblo East came back down to earth. The Pueblo East Eagles took a 44-31 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Pueblo South Colts on Friday. The Eagles have struggled against the Colts recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Pueblo East's loss came despite strong showings from Enzo Pecoraro and Mj Delgado. Pecoraro posted seven points along with six boards and three blocks, while Delgado earned nine points. That's the most points Delgado has posted since back in January of 2024.

Pueblo South's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Caeden Herrera led the charge by putting up four points and 13 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Kade Ortiz, who scored 11 points.

Pueblo East's defeat dropped their record down to 10-5. As for Pueblo South, their victory ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-8.

Pueblo East has already played their next matchup (against Pueblo Central), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. Pueblo South has already played their next game, a 75-37 win against Pueblo Centennial on the 28th.
