Baseball Recap: St. Stanislaus Snags Ninth Win in Last 12 Games

After losing to St. Patrick the last time they met, St. Stanislaus decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. St. Stanislaus walked away with a 6-1 victory over St. Patrick on Friday. Surprisingly, this marked the fifth straight game that the away team has come away the victor.

Jackson Orozco tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over 4.2 innings pitched. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, St. Stanislaus' win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Brooks Ilgenfritz, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Those two hits gave Ilgenfritz a new career-high. Another was Sam Pike, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI.

St. Stanislaus has been performing well recently as they've won nine of their last 12 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 6.3 runs over those games. St. Patrick moved to 12-5 with that defeat, which also ended their four-game winning streak.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Stanislaus will host Petal at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for St. Patrick, they will be playing at home against Baker at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday.
