Preview: Midlothian Heritage Jaguars vs. South Oak Cliff Bears
The Midlothian Heritage Jaguars are on the road again on Friday and play against the South Oak Cliff Bears at 7:00 p.m. on November 24th. Both teams have allowed few points on average, (Midlothian Heritage: 15.6, South Oak Cliff: 16.8) so any points scored will be well earned.
Midlothian Heritage extended their postseason success on Friday against Marshall. They came out on top against the Mavericks by a score of 21-14. Given Midlothian Heritage's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 35th, while Marshall is ranked 138th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Among those leading the charge was Carter Rutenbar, who rushed for 51 yards and a touchdown on only seven carries, and also threw for 127 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, South Oak Cliff had already won eight in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 40.8 points), and they went ahead and made it nine on Saturday. They walked away with a 38-30 win over Melissa.
Among those leading the charge was Danny Green Jr, who rushed for 128 yards and three touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Midlothian Heritage to 12-0 and Marshall to 6-6.
Midlothian Heritage came up short against South Oak Cliff in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 33-27. Thankfully for Midlothian Heritage, Jayvon Thomas (who rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
