Baseball Game Preview: Monte Vista Monarchs vs. Clairemont Chieftains

The Monte Vista Monarchs will head out on the road to challenge the Clairemont Chieftains at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Monte Vista has given up an average of 6.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

On Tuesday, Monte Vista came up short against Palmer Trinity and fell 12-9.

Orlando Rupley led a balanced group of hitters, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4. Antonio Mccomb also deserves some recognition as he hit his first triple of the season.

Meanwhile, Clairemont also suffered a loss in their last game, falling to West Hills by a score of 8-4. The Chieftains have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Clairemont also got a good showing from Jackson Cleary, who tossed two innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. Cleary has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Harrison Byard made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored a run while going 1-for-3.

Clairemont's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Monte Vista, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-7.

Monte Vista skirted past Clairemont 3-2 in their previous meeting back in March of 2015. Will Monte Vista repeat their success, or does Clairemont has a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
