Preview: Delmar Wildcats vs. Laurel Bulldogs
The Delmar Wildcats will head out on the road to face off against the Laurel Bulldogs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Delmar will be strutting in after a win while Laurel will be coming in after a defeat.
Delmar had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They enjoyed a cozy 27-13 win over Sussex Tech.
Delmar's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Isaiah Holbrook, who rushed for 89 yards and two touchdowns. Khalid Schoolfield and his 108 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Delmar's win.
Meanwhile, Laurel faced Milford in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Laurel took a 15-6 hit to the loss column at the hands of Milford on Friday.
Delmar is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. As for Laurel, they now have a losing record at 3-4.
Delmar took a serious blow against Laurel in their previous meeting back in November of 2022, falling 42-13. Can Delmar avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
