Baseball Recap: Auburn's Luck Takes a Turn for the Worse on Friday

It was a good run, but Auburn unfortunately witnessed the end of their four-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 7-2 to the Hopedale Blue Raiders. The Rockets were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Blue Raiders apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Auburn saw eight different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Cameron McLaughlin, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one run.

Auburn suffered their first road loss, dropping their record down to 16-2. As for Hopedale, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-5 record this season.

Auburn will head out to take on Oxford at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Hopedale, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Advanced Math & Science Academy at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. The Blue Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 6.1 runs per game this season.
