Baseball Game Preview: Mt. Pleasant Tigers vs. Loretto Mustangs

For the second straight game, Mt. Pleasant will face off against Loretto. The Tigers will venture away from home to challenge the Mustangs at 7:15 p.m. on Wednesday. Mt. Pleasant has given up an average of 8.8 runs per game this season, but Wednesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

The home team had come away the winner the last four times Mt. Pleasant and Loretto had met, but sadly for the fans who attended this one that wasn't the case. The Tigers lost 13-3 to the Mustangs on Tuesday. The Tigers haven't had much luck with the Mustangs recently, as the team has come up short the last nine times they've met.

For Loretto's part, Grant Fisher was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up three earned runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Fisher has posted since back in March. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 3-for-4 with one run.

In other batting news, Ben Lyles was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Those two runs gave him a new career-high. Casen Springer also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.

Loretto was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .407. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Loretto has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-14 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 11.2 runs over those games. As for Mt. Pleasant, their defeat dropped their record down to 8-14.
