Softball Game Preview: Mt. Rainier Rams vs. Auburn Riverside Ravens

The Mt. Rainier Rams will venture away from home to challenge the Auburn Riverside Ravens at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Auburn Riverside took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mt. Rainier, who comes in off a win.

On Wednesday, Mt. Rainier needed a bit of extra time to put away Stadium. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Tigers, sneaking past 7-5. The victory was nothing new for the Rams as they're now sitting on three straight.

The team relied heavily on Kendall Parker, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one home run and three RBI. That home run was her first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Willow Stokes, who got on base in three of her four plate appearances with one triple and two RBI.

Meanwhile, Auburn Riverside fell victim to Sunlake and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They lost 8-0 to the Seahawks. The game marked the first time this season in which the Ravens were not able to get on the board.

Auburn Riverside also got a good showing from Makenna Vircks, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off three hits.

At the plate, Auburn Riverside saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Danica Butler, who went 1-for-2 with one double.

Auburn Riverside's defeat ended a 12-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 7-4. As for Mt. Rainier, they now have a winning record of 3-2.

Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mt. Rainier hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .350. However, it's not like Auburn Riverside struggles in that department as they've averaged .340. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Mt. Rainier suffered a grim 18-0 defeat to Auburn Riverside in their previous meeting back in March of 2024. Can the Rams avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
