Volleyball Recap: Huron Tigers vs. Bishop Hartley Hawks

After flying high against Vermilion last Thursday, Huron came back down to earth. The Huron Tigers fell just short of the Bishop Hartley Hawks by a score of 3-2 on Saturday. The Tigers' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Huron wouldn't go down easily and took Bishop Hartley into a fifth set but they suffered a heartbreaking two-point loss. The final score came out to 17-25, 25-21, 25-12, 14-25, 16-14.

Leading Bishop Hartley to victory were Karah Omalley and Samantha Heuser. Omalley had 28 digs and two aces, while Heuser had five digs and four aces. Omalley is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 13 or more in the last five games she's played dating back to last season.

Huron's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 13-9. As for Bishop Hartley, their record is now an identical 13-9.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Huron will welcome Clear Fork at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Clear Fork is coming into the matchup with four straight losses on the road, meaning Huron will have to defend against a team hungry for a win. As for Bishop Hartley, they will be playing at home against Independence at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
