Basketball Recap: Woodlan Warriors vs. South Adams Starfires
The Woodlan Warriors had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They breezed by South Adams at home to the tune of 68-32. That looming 68-32 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Woodlan yet this season.
Woodlan's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Luke Meyer, who scored 15 points along with five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Meyer scored 15 or more points. The team also got some help courtesy of Braden Smith, who scored 17 points.
Despite the loss, South Adams saw an underclassman step up: Tytus Lehman scored 16 points. Another player making a difference was Derek Mckean, who scored four points along with two steals.
Woodlan pushed their record up to 10-6 with that win, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for South Adams, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-14.
Woodlan will play host again and welcome the Archers, where tip off is scheduled for 1:30 p.m. on Saturday. Fort Wayne South Side is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 53.5 points per game this season. South Adams is on the road again on Saturday and plays the Panthers at 2:00 p.m. on February 3rd.
