Preview: Valley Vikings vs. Resurrection Christian Cougars
Valley is 0-8 against Resurrection Christian since January of 2017 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Valley Vikings will head out on the road to square off against the Resurrection Christian Cougars at 6:00 p.m. Hopefully Valley focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 19 on Saturday.
Valley suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Saturday. They suffered a rough 63-41 loss at the hands of University. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Valley has suffered against University since February 12, 2019.
Valley's defeat came about despite a quality game from Peyton Savolt, who scored 15 points along with six assists. That was a full 36.6% of Valley's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kendyll Mayhugh, who scored nine points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, Resurrection Christian came tearing into Monday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 70-31 victory over Brush on the road. Resurrection Christian has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight contests by 21 points or more this season.
Valley has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-7 record this season. As for Resurrection Christian, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 10-3 record this season.
Valley was taken down by Resurrection Christian 53-17 in their previous meeting back in February of 2023. Can Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
