Basketball Recap: Lamar County Trojans vs. Jackson Red Devils
In what's become a running theme this season, the Lamar County Trojans gave their fans yet another huge victory on Wednesday. They breezed by Jackson at home to the tune of 71-28. The matchup was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 41-15.
It was another big night for Shakiria Foster, who scored 34 points along with five steals. That makes it three consecutive games in which she has scored at least a third of Lamar County's points. Another player making a difference was Makayla Watts, who scored eight points along with five rebounds and four steals.
The win makes it two in a row for Lamar County and bumps their season record up to 17-5. As for Jackson, their loss was their seventh straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-18.
Lamar County will square off against the Braves at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Heard County's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last three contests. As for Jackson, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Bears at 6:00 p.m. Griffin presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than the Red Devils in Georgia (the Bears are ranked 133rd, while the Red Devils are ranked 395th).
