Baseball Recap: Vela Wins Going Away Against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest

Vela came out on top against Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run second inning. The Sabercats blew past the Javelinas 9-1. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 17-1 on Tuesday.

June Garza, Jr. looked comfortable as he tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. What's more, he posted five strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rolando Solis, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one run, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high. Joe Maldonado also deserves some recognition as he got his first hits of the season.

The victory got Vela back to even at 14-14. As for Pharr-San Juan-Alamo Southwest, they are on a 14-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-18.

As of now, neither Vela nor the Javelinas have any future games scheduled.
