Baseball Game Preview: Moorpark Musketeers vs. St. Joseph Knights

The Moorpark Musketeers will challenge the St. Joseph Knights at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Moorpark 4, St. Joseph 3.4) so any runs scored will be well earned.

Moorpark fell victim to Camarillo and their airtight pitching crew on Friday. They might be feeling deja-vu: they lost 5-0 to the Scorpions, which was the same score (and result) they got the week prior. The Musketeers haven't had much luck with the Scorpions recently, as the team has come up short the last six times they've met.

Meanwhile, after a string of six wins, St. Joseph's good fortune finally ran out on Saturday. They fell 8-4 to San Luis Obispo. Surprisingly, this marked the Knights' fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.

St. Joseph got a good showing from Robbie Roemling, who tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Furthermore, Roemling didn't allow a single walk, the first time he has blanked an opponent since back in March.

At the plate, St. Joseph saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Niko Peinado, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That double marked the first that Peinado has hit this season. Another was Erik Furness, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

St. Joseph's loss dropped their record down to 18-5. As for Moorpark, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-10.
