The West Jessamine Colts will venture away from home to challenge the Male Bulldogs at 6:30 p.m. on Monday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.
While West Jessamine's win against Greenup County wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Colts narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Musketeers 3-2. That's two games straight that the Colts have won by just one run.
Dylan Milholland and Brandt Kidwell dominated on the mound. Milholland didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched, while Kidwell pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. The dominant performance also gave Kidwell a new career-high in strikeouts (two).

On the hitting side, Blake Buehner was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. He has become a key player for West Jessamine: the team is undefeated when he posts at least one home run, but 8-24 otherwise. Lucas Poor also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.
Meanwhile, Male posted their closest win since April 12th on Saturday. They had just enough and edged out Green County 6-4.
Miles Flack tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Camden Angelini, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
The victory made it two in a row for West Jessamine and bumps their season record up to 11-24. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of one runs across that stretch. As for Male, their record is now 14-16.
West Jessamine couldn't quite get it done against Male in their previous meeting back in March of 2023 as they fell 5-1. Can the Colts avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
