Softball Recap: Bellows Falls Wins Going Away Against Brattleboro

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Mount Anthony, Bellows Falls was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They were the clear victors by a 12-4 margin over the Brattleboro Bears. The Terriers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight matchups by six runs or more this season.

Izzy Stoodley made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out nine batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and three unearned) runs off five hits. Stoodley was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Grace Hayes, who went 2-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. Brielle Mulverhill was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI.

Bellows Falls' win bumped their record up to 11-5. As for Brattleboro, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-8.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bellows Falls will head out to challenge Springfield at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Brattleboro, they will venture away from home to take on Fair Haven at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bears' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Slaters have averaged an impressive 6.4 runs per game this season.
