Baseball Game Preview: Sam Houston Hurricanes vs. Seguin Matadors

The Sam Houston Hurricanes will challenge the Seguin Matadors at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Sam Houston comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Tuesday just wasn't the day for Sam Houston's offense. They lost 12-0 to Burbank on Tuesday.

Meanwhile, Seguin made easy work of Highlands on Tuesday and carried off a 17-2 win. The Matadors might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight contests by nine runs or more this season.

Ian Moreno and Corey Dailey did most of the damage at the plate: Moreno went a perfect 1-for-1 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI, while Dailey scored two runs while going 2-for-2. That hit was Moreno's first of the season. Ethan Tipple was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2.

Seguin hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their strikeout total in three consecutive games.

Seguin is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8-1 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Sam Houston, their loss dropped their record down to 0-14.
