Basketball Recap: Lake Station Edison Takes a Loss

Lake Station Edison was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their 12th straight defeat. They were four points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-54 heartbreaker at the hands of the West Central Trojans. The Fighting Eagles were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Trojans apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2024.

Leading West Central to victory were Christian Hughes and Brady Bishop. Hughes almost dropped a double-double with 17 points and nine boards, while Bishop went 6-for-10 en route to 19 points and five assists. The dominant performance also gave Hughes a new career-high in field goal percentage (88%). Another player making a difference was Tate Leman, who posted five points.

Lake Station Edison's defeat dropped their record down to 4-18. As for West Central, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season.

Lake Station Edison has already played their next matchup (against Morgan Township), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing. As for West Central, they will face off against South Newton at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
